Bowne Twp. School History There were eight old one-room schoolhouses in Bowne Twp., Kent Co., Michigan. The names of the schools are Bowne Center (renovated), Curley, McVean, Logan, Harris Creek, Star, Lowe and Stone. Now you can search for names of teachers and students who attended these schools from 1903 - 1925. The recently renovated Bowne Center School contains historical information about the eight one-room schoolhouses in Bowne Township. There are photos of school classes and lists of known teachers. There is a large book collection, and the schoolhouse is set up like an actual one-room schoolhouse. It is open to visitors on the first Sundays of June, July, August and September from 2:00 - 4:00. It is open other times by appointment. |
